Jared’s Motorcycle
Oct 30th
So a few weeks ago I got a new motorcycle. My previous Chinese scooter just all the sudden wouldn’t start, which is not the first time it’s had this problem. Last time I just wouldn’t start it cost me a few hundred dollars to fix. So instead of spending a few hundred to get a few more months out of the scooter (which already had over 10,000 miles on it, kinda high for a scooter) I threw around the idea of getting a full blown motorcycle. I started doing some research on what kinds of motorcycles exist and what features there were on each one. I also started checking KSL and Craigslist every day to see what prices motorcycles were going for so I made sure I actually got a good deal.
After all of this research, it came down to two options: getting a NEW Chinese scooter or getting a used motorcycle. Since it’s the end of the summer, both options were a lot cheaper than at the beginning of the summer. The scooter place I went to said I could name the price on the scooter. It was his last one and really wanted to get rid of it. Then I went to a motorcycle place and they said they wanted to get rid of their street bikes before winter. SO… I had this huge dilemma in my head. Do I save money and get a Chinese scooter again? I might be able to go a few years without problems, but historically, those Chinese scooters give problems after a few months and I was sick of having problems with the scooter. But they’re really cheap to own and cheap to insure, and if I don’t have problems, would be cheaper in the long run. But if it does have problems the cost to fix it would just even out to the total cost of a motorcycle. So I’d probably rather pay more for a motorcycle and have it work all the time.
So I decided I pretty much wanted the motorcycle. So then I started looking at motorcycles. The motorcycle at the dealership I went to before had a bike I was interested in at a pretty decent price that I could talk down with cash even more. But in the time it took to think about the purchase and feel good about it, and finding a way to get there and back with the motorcycle, they had sold it. So I started looking for another one. I noticed that KSL Classifieds online had one, but it was all the way in Ogden. But it was someone around my age who was selling it because he was getting married and needed the money more than the bike. So even though it was $300 more than the bike I was looking at, it was also 4 years newer and had 7,000 less miles on it (less than 5,000 total miles). So I didn’t mind spending the extra money to get a newer bike. So I decided I wanted that one and set it all up with the owner to make the sale.
Thanks to Clyde, my Mom and my Grandpa Robins, we (Clyde, my Mom, Becky and I) took Clyde’s truck with Grandpa’s trailer up to Ogden and got it. Hooray! Now for some pictures!
Halloween Fun
Oct 26th
Since Jared and I have been married we have gone to the Cornbelly’s Corn Maze at Thanksgiving Point. It is way fun! We went with our friends Taylor and Jessica Forbush. We’ve gone with them almost every time we’ve gone (except for only one time, I think). Well, we started out the day with pig and goat races. Goats are one of Jared’s favorite animals. If you don’t believe me I have videos to prove it. Then we went on a hayride.
We also went to the Halloween tree. There were crazy pumpkins there that you wouldn’t believe people actually carved. I think it inspired us as you will see later in the post.
After admiring the glow radiating from the jack-o-lanterns we headed to the jumping pillow for good exercise. It made me miss having a trampoline. Jared got way into it of course.
Then for the main event: the corn maze. Last year we got through way too fast. This year we were decently lost for a little bit of time.
But don’t worry we made it to the Victory Bridge in the end
. (P.S. This is Jared now. Side story: There was this annoying group of girls going through the corn maze that we had to follow for a little bit. They were being loud and spouting off random things, and every once in a while they would say, “We’re not drinking!” Anyway, the Victory Bridge takes you over the entrance as it takes you out of corn maze. I saw this group of girls below us, going through the entrance saying, “Finally, we’re done!” It took everything I had not to tell them they were actually at the beginning of the maze where they had started.)
The day was also full of fun little activities.
Well, we had a lot of fun but it was getting to closing time so we had to take our carriage and say good bye until next year.
Pumpkin Carving
Sunday we got together and carved pumpkins at Jared’s Dad’s house. Jared and I tried a little harder this year, but used patterns. I think this is my best pumpkin ever. Mine says Trick or Treat and Jared’s is a monster. But you tell me, does it look good enough to be my best pumpkin ever?
My mother-in-law Kathy went all out. We had a yummy soup, homemade apple sauce, and caramel apples.
This family gathering was a obvious success. Wow. All this Halloween fun and it isn’t even Halloween. Now all we need to do is decide what we are going to be for our Halloween Party. Any ideas?
Becky’s Birthday
Oct 26th

So, on the day of my birthday I didn’t do much because I had to work and we just didn’t have that much time. So we really celebrated a couple days later. Jared and I went to Trafalga and got the Dream Date package. It is the most premium package. It includes unlimited mini golf, go carts, batting cages, X-D theater, 2 bowls of Dippin’ Dots, and 40 tokens. We went on a Thursday so there weren’t very many people there so we felt pretty waited on. When we wanted to do something we didn’t have to get in line or anything, it was great. So with so much to choose from, how much did we actually do? Well we went on the go carts twice. Batting Cages once. Once is enough with that, ouch. It was my first time doing batting cages and it may be my last. We also played mini golf twice. I got two hole in ones. I think I really should be able to count three but Jared wouldn’t mark it. See I hit it in the hole with one swing but it wasn’t the hole I was aiming for.
We saw all four movies in the X-D theater in a row. This is a theater where you watch a movie in 3-D but your chair will move and bounce and they will shine light at you for heat and blow wind on your face. The videos were the haunted mine (go through a haunted mine in a mining cart), roller coaster. arctic drive (like a roller coaster on snow), and a jet pack. It was fun. Each movie is $7 without the deal so we definitely got our money’s worth.
We also ate dippin’ dots and played arcade games. Jared got the jackpot twice on the jumping Jackpot game.
On Sunday we went over to Jared’s Dad’s House and I got to open presents and eat cake. Yum! It was my favorite cake of course: RAINBOW CHIP, the best frosting in the world.
Overall a very good Birthday!
