End of Summer Fun
I have been wanting to go to Lagoon all summer and we have been putting it off because of all sorts of things that come up. Well we finally decided to go. I even went online to check the times. So yesterday, Wednesday, we pack up our stuff and drive to Farmington (over an hours’ drive) only to be greeted by a sign saying Lagoon Closed. We couldn’t believe it! We looked on their website and everything. We talked to a guard at the employee gate and they said that it was closed because school started and it would only be open on weekends. Well… school hadn’t started for us yet. Needless to say we were pretty disappointed. So, we started to drive home. I didn’t want to waste all the time we have driven and do nothing, so started thinking about all the stuff we could do in Salt Lake. We decided to go to the zoo.
But first we had lunch at Costa Vida. YUM!
We saw lions (drinking fountains), tigers and bears, oh my. We have never been to the zoo as a couple. Jared’s favorite animal was the Red Panda also known as the Firefox. It made us want to watch Kung Fu Panda again since Shifu is a Red Panda. And even though they were boring, he liked the Snow Leopard for the same reason.
He also liked the penguins.
The turtle was pretty fun too.
I liked the giraffes
It was hot so we got some snow cones.
.
Since there was a geocache within walking distance we had to find it. (SPOILER ALERT, this will give the location of a geocache away)
Also we stopped by This is the Place Monument and just looked around. If you don’t know your LDS/Utah history. It is the place where Brigham Young said “This is the right place.” This was important because it meant that after 1,300 miles of walking or riding in a covered wagon they were finally at their destination.
Then on our way home we went to IKEA and looked around. It was Jared’s suggestion. I got ideas of how I am going to decorate my future home. We also got some more chocolate and meatballs. If you haven’t tried their chocolate and meatballs with cream sauce (not together) they are delicious.
Then to finish our day we got a Redbox movie and watched it (Escape to Witch Mountain).
So, even though we didn’t get to go to Lagoon we had an amazing day.

Sounds like an awesome day! I love the zoo…..and IKEA. Better to have some $$ if you go to the last one. I see so many cool things I’d like in there.

Wow, you guys did a lot in one day. Sounds super fun. We went to the Utah (Hogle??) zoo in July and it was cool. Ariana also really liked the giraffes and kept running away from me to see them again. She didn’t care for the red panda.
How did you fit all of those things in one day? Wow, with kids I feel like I do one of those things (like how I went to the Minnesota zoo the other day with Ariana and Corban) and then I come home and I’m exhausted!
